Building Stronger Communities Through Our Programs

Community Programs

We are passionately committed to nurturing our community by offering a wide range of programs that embrace the diverse needs of individuals and families.

Through these initiatives, we create opportunities for meaningful connections, personal growth, and collective well-being.

Our programs are designed to uplift, inspire, and empower, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Whether it’s through educational workshops, wellness activities, or community-building events, we believe in fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness that strengthens the fabric of our community.

DTES Regional Community Food Hub

At Watari, our food programs go beyond simply delivering meals. In the heart of the DTES, we provide essential groceries and hot meals to the most vulnerable residents, ensuring that no one is left without the basic resources they deserve.

In addition to food deliveries, we offer no-barrier access programs where everyone is welcomed without fear of judgment or exclusion.

We also have specialized initiatives for elders and seniors, providing not just nourishment, but also the care and respect they deserve, strengthening community bonds and nurturing both body and spirit.

Youth Programs

Our programs support vulnerable youth and families across Greater Vancouver with comprehensive services.

The Eastside Integrated Youth Outreach provides outreach, counseling, and basic needs to youth up to age 25, while the YEAH Program offers 18-month housing subsidies to at-risk youth, fostering stability and independence. The S.T.A.R. Program educates kids on critical issues, ICOP offers tailored support for Aboriginal youth, and the Passages Program empowers Indigenous girls in foster care through workshops and events.

Watari Wellness Center

Located at 320 Alexander Street, the Watari Wellness Center has been a multi-purpose community hub for the Downtown Eastside (DTES) , supported by the City of Vancouver and BC Housing.

Since its inception, the center has served as a beacon of support and connection for our community, providing a welcoming and inclusive space that meets immediate needs while fostering long-term growth and unity.

Our center has become a vital meeting place for those seeking emotional support, access to nutritious food, and essential services.

Every program and service we offer is designed to address the diverse needs of the community, creating an environment of care and solidarity. With the commitment and backing of our partners, we work tirelessly to strengthen our community network and provide a safe haven for all.

Our programs aim to meet the diverse needs of the communities we support, delivered by caring staff and enthusiastic volunteers.
